Potatoes and Onions in Air fryer

Flavorful
Description

Potatoes and Onions are a match made in heaven. Air fryer potatoes and onions are so simple to make and delightful with caramelised edges.

Ingredients
  • 2 potatoes or 225 gm. or baby potatoes
  • 2 onions or 225 gm.
  • 2 tsp. olive oil or lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. paprika or cayenne
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ½ tsp. salt or to taste
  • ½ tsp. dry oregano
  • 1 tsp. parsley chopped optional
Directions
  1. Wash and dry potatoes. Cut them into similar sized cubes about 1”. I leave the skin on for the crunch. It’s a personal choice.
  2. You can peel the skin off too.
  3. Slice your onions.
  4. I cook these vegetables at 180C or 360F. That way they get an even caramelisation on the edges without going overboard. They also cook evenly.
  5. After chopping them, toss them in olive oil and spices.
  6. I leave chopped parsley for the end for the fresh taste.
  7. You may use lemon juice or aquafaba in place of olive oil for zero-oil recipe to help the spices to adhere.
  8. Your potatoes and onions will still taste good. They will not have a very fried appearance though.
  9. Preheat air fryer at 180C or 360F for 5 minutes.
  10. Brush air fryer basket with oil. Place seasoned potatoes and onions in the basket.
  11. I could do 1 lb. Or 450 gm. Batch at one go.
  12. Some overlapping is fine.
  13. Close air fryer basket. Air fry at 180C or 360F for 10-15 minutes. Check after 10 minutes to see the doneness and caramelisation.
  14. It will depend upon how thick or thin your pieces are. Remember to shake the air fryer basket every 5 minutes during air frying cycle for even cooking.
  15. Your onions and potatoes will look nice and crispy. They taste delicious too.
  16. Check for doneness by eating one potato cube. They will be cooked inside and crispy on the edges.
  17. Take them out. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot. Enjoy.
